Siebel Enterprise Server Installation


Siebel Server 7.8.2 Installation:

1 Log on using the Siebel Service Owner Account.
This account must belong to the Windows domain of the Siebel Enterprise Server.
If you do not log on using the Siebel Service Owner Account, make sure that the account you use belongs to the Windows domain of the Siebel Enterprise Server and has full write permissions to the Siebel File System.
2 Shut down all open programs running on the server.
3 Stop any active Siebel Server Windows services, except the Siebel Gateway Name Server service.
4 Navigate to SIEBEL_INSTALL_IMAGE_782\7.8.2.0\Windows\Server\Siebel_Enterprise_Server.
5 Double-click setup.exe.
6 Click Next.
7 To install the server software in a new instance, select None as the default and click Next.
8 Use the Browse button to select a different drive or directory or select the displayed default
directory for file installation, and then click Next.
This directory name must not contain spaces, although underscores are allowed.
The installer prompts you to select the product that you want to install.
9 Choose the option to install the Siebel Server, and click Next.
10 Choose the type of Siebel Server installation to execute from the options and click Next.
11 If you are not installing into a directory that has other Siebel components installed to it, select
the Language Packs you are installing for the Siebel Server and click Next.
12 Click Next to accept the default Program Folder for the shortcuts, or change the Program Folder,
and then click Next.
13 Review the information and take the appropriate action:
■ If these parameters are acceptable, click Next.
14 Select one of the following options to continue:
■ Continue with configuring the Siebel Server. Do this if you are installing the primary Siebel
Server for the Siebel Enterprise Server. For detailed instructions, see “Configuring the Siebel
Server” on page 106.
■ Close out of the Siebel Software Configuration Wizard and configure later. In this case, the
installer displays the following message; however, note that you cannot operate the Siebel
Server until it is configured:
The InstallShield Wizard has successfully installed the Siebel Enterprise Server.
Click Finish to exit the Wizard.
15 To complete the installation process, click Finish.
16 If necessary, start the Siebel Software Configuration Wizard.
17 select the Yes check box.And Next.
18 On the Gateway Name Server Listening Port screen, type the following values, click Next,
19 In the screen Select the Software Your Siebel Installation Will Use for Data Matching, select from
one of the following and click Next:
Siebel Data Quality Matching. Siebel Data Quality Matching identifies and corrects duplicate
records, and provides an interface from which the user can merge them.

20 Specify the database platform that will support this Siebel Enterprise Server and click Next:
21 Specify the following values for your Siebel Database and click Next:
■ Database User Account. This is the account under which the Siebel Server logs in to the
database. This should be the Siebel administrator account, SADMIN.
NOTE: User SADMIN is not required for DB2 UDB for z/OS.
■ Database User Account Password. Depending on your database platform, type in the
appropriate value, as follows (values shown below are examples only):
❏ Oracle. sadmin.
■ Database User Account Password (confirm). Retype the password to confirm it.
22 Type the following values for the Table Owner of the Siebel Database (Siebel) and the Database Alias:
❏ Schema Qualifier/Table Owner. Identify the name of the schema that contains the
Siebel tables and indexes.
❏ SQLNet Connect String. Enter the Oracle connect string for your Siebel Database, click
Next,
23 Specify the following Siebel File System parameters and then click Next:
■ Siebel File System. Use the Browse button to locate the Siebel File System directory you
created. If you did not already created this directory, you must create it now by specifying a
directory in this wizard. Specify the Siebel File System directory using the format:
\\SiebelFS\siebel7x
where:
❏ SiebelFS = The host name of the machine (assuming that a dedicated machine is used
for the Siebel File System)
❏ siebel7x = The name of the share.
This directory will contain files associated with your Siebel components. You may either use
a UNC share name or specify a drive letter.
24 Select the type of chart image format you want to use, and then click Next:GIF,JPEG, or PNG
25 On the Encryption Type screen, select the type of encryption that should be used for network
communications (SISNAPI) between the Siebel Server and the Web server, and then click Next:
NONE.,MSCRYPTO., or RSA..
26 On the Remote Search Server Hostname screen, type in the following values for the Remote
Search Server host, and then click Next:
Remote Search Server Hostname. Type the Remote Search Server host name.
Remote Search Server Port Number. Type the port number on which the Search Server is
configured to listen or accept the default.
If you are installing the first Siebel Server for the Enterprise, the Enable Component Groups
screen appears.
27 On the Siebel Server Name screen, indicate the values for the following parameters and click
Next:
Siebel Server Name.
Siebel Server Description.
28 On the Port Number Assigned to Siebel SCBroker Component screen, select a static port number.
29 Indicate whether you want to override the Siebel Enterprise Server port for Synchronization
Manager, which is part of Siebel Remote.
If you are installing and configuring multiple servers that will be running Synchronization
Manager on a single machine, each requires a unique port number to run.
■ To override the default port, click Yes and then Next.
■ To accept the default, leave the check box unselected and click Next. The Windows User
Account screen appears.
30 Identify your Windows User Account information to enable Windows to start the service
automatically, and then click Next.
31 Specify whether or not you want the Siebel Server service to start automatically when you restart
the Windows operating system, and then click Next:
32 Specify whether you want the service to start now or want to defer service startup to a later time,
and then click Next:
33 Indicate whether you want to deploy Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) in your enterprise. Select or
clear the Yes box on this screen, then click Next.
34 Review these values for accuracy :
a If you need to correct any values, click Previous to back out through the configuration screens
until you reach the location of the incorrect value.
b When you have corrected the error, click Next until you reach the list on this screen again.
c When you have verified the configuration values, click Finish.
A progress bar appears and, when configuration activities are over, a message box appears with
the text:
The configuration changes were applied successfully.
35 Click OK.
36 Navigate to Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC).
37 On the ODBC Data Source Administrator screen, select the System DSN tab.
38 Review this data source; its default name is SiebSrvr_EnterpriseName, where EnterpriseName
is the name you gave the Siebel Enterprise during its configuration.
39 Record the name of the ODBC data source
40 Select the data source SiebSrvr_EnterpriseName, and click Configure.
41 To test the connection, click Test Connect.
42 In your registry, locate the following registry entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI\SiebSrvr_EnterpriseName]
Verify that the following registry keys are set as shown. These values are required in order for
the ODBC driver to behave correctly.
PacketSize = 0
EnableScrollableCursors = 0
ColumnsAsChar = 1
ColumnSizeAsCharacter = 1
43 Make sure remote users are able to establish a TCP/IP connection to the server using the PING utility
